Engineering Manager – East Coast
Department: Mechanical Engineering Reports To: Senior Director of Engineering
Location: On-Site - Clinton, MA Travel: 10% – 20% to Vitesse Site in Jessup, MD (as necessary)

SUMMARY: The Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the Mechanical Engineering department. This person will assign engineering resources to projects and coordinate priorities between projects with a focus on team career development and personal growth. They will facilitate communication across departments to ensure engineering support for sales, production, and tests. The EM will perform ongoing evaluations of current procedures and lead the engineering team in process improvements to align with strategic business initiatives. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage, develop and provide oversight of the engineering team
- Be a strong advocate for Servant Leadership within the company
- Foster a culture of design for manufacturing and assembly
- Assign resources to programs and prioritize tasks for team members
- Communicate clear performance expectations and hold individuals accountable
- Assess development/training opportunities within the department and cross-departmental
- Mentor team members in personal and career development
- Have hands on involvement in training programs and initiatives
- Handle Personnel Issues (including timecard, PTO requests, etc.)
- Identify, track and present key Metrics
- Manage process improvement implementation/updates
- Track impacts of design/process decisions across departments
- Facilitate risk identification and mitigation throughout program lifecycles
- Review designs, technical documents, and test procedures
- Participate in resource planning for proposals (cost/schedule/resource loading)
- Track impacts of design/process decisions across departments Measure and report on performance of key improvement processes
- Monitor MRB decisions and ensure timely completion of repair work instructions
- Participate in root cause/corrective action activities (for NCRs that are related to design/analysis issues)
- Support customer visits and calls for new business development. Make effective presentations on products and capabilities of the group.

- Software proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, Solidworks or similar CAD software and web-based applications.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
- Experience with CNC machining, brazing and metal finishing desired
- Experience with military specifications and AS9100 desired
- Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands
- Experience with technical writing/reviewing
- Effective and efficient organizational and planning skills
- Self-starter with the ability to see projects through with a can-do attitude
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or equivalent Engineering
- 5-8 years of experience in technical team management
- 2-3 years of experience in program and/or project management desired
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
