Role Overview:

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager – Backend who thrives in high-energy environments, loves building from scratch, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, scalable financial products.

About the Role:

As an Engineering Manager, you will lead the cards backend team responsible for building the core financial platforms. You’ll work closely with different teams to ensure our systems are reliable, secure, and fast. This is a critical role where you’ll combine hands-on technical execution with people management.

Focus area:

  • Lead and grow a team of backend engineers in a high-growth fintech environment.
  • Deliver robust, scalable, and compliant financial systems, APIs, and services.
  • Set technical direction and own backend architecture decisions in collaboration with the CTO.
  • Champion clean code, security best practices, and high standards for engineering quality.
  • Coach and mentor engineers through regular 1:1s, career development planning, and feedback.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and product roadmaps.
  • Manage project timelines, scope, and technical challenges, ensuring fast but sustainable delivery.
  • Hire and retain top engineering talent.
  • Continuously improve backend performance, reliability, monitoring, and alerting systems.


Profile:

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2 years in a technical leadership or management role.
  • Strong understanding of scalable distributed systems, APIs, and databases.
  • Experience deploying and maintaining services in cloud environments (AWS, GCP).
  • Experience building microservices, event-driven architectures.


Good to have:

  • Prior experience working with financial systems (e.g., payments, banking, lending) and a strong understanding of security, compliance, and data privacy standards.
  • Passion for developing people and building great teams.
  • Startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and wearing multiple hats.
  • Prior work in early-stage or hyper-growth startups.
