Who we are looking for?

We are growing, and looking for a new or recent graduate to join us as Junior Tunnel Engineer /EIT in Mississauga or Markham, ON. You will play a key role in a wide variety of tunnel engineering projects. GHD has several large diameter tunnelling projects on going including the Yonge North Subway Extension, Scarborough Subway Extension, Ontario Line South, Sepulveda Transit Corridor and Sydney Metro West project.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Assisting with project work within GHD’s Rail and Transportation and Water business and support other tunnelling projects across Canada or internationally, as opportunities present.
• Assisting in responding to technical and administrative tasks associated with the development of tunnels and stations.
• Carrying out analysis as directed by senior members of the team for tunnel liners and shaft/tunnel design using PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience, etc.
  
  

What you will bring to the team:

• University graduate with degree in geotechnical, geological or civil engineering (Master or PhD Degree in Tunnel/Geotechnical Engineering will be an asset)
• Capability in working within tunnel design or construction teams is an asset
• Experience in design of tunnels in soft ground and transit underground support of structure will be an asset
• Knowledge of shaft & shoring design will be an asset
• Experience in various industry standard geotechnical software’s would be an asset (PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience etc.)
• Familiar with tunnelling & shaft construction, logistics & equipment & methodology selection, would be an asset
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills
• Keen interest in infrastructure and underground structure design
• Excellent problem-solving, multi-tasking, organizational and team work skills
• Professional status desirable, e.g. P.Eng, or working towards it
• Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G)
