Job Summary:
The Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting the Global Technical Innovations Group during the selection and definition of future manufacturing platforms, modifications of existing technology or introduction of new products on current manufacturing lines. These projects include but is not limited to activities such as capacity analysis evaluation, concept modeling, vendor technical discussions, assembly analysis, materials and components analysis, prototyping testing, and user requirements definitions.

What you will bring:
Experience:
0 - 2 years of experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
Experience in manufacturing equipment implementation projects is highly desirable.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Software, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or related field.
EIT or PE license highly desirable and CIAPR member.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Understanding PLC software tools such as Studio 5000, RSLogix, etc.
Understanding of PLC and HMI programming tools.
Understanding of servo-driven systems, robotics.
Basic knowledge of automation components.
Basic knowledge and understanding of communications networking.
Excellent organization skills, ability to multi-task, and a commitment to timely follow-up; strong results orientation.
Able to communicate professionally across a wide variety of employee levels and locations.
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Strong technical writing and presentation skills
Bonus If You
Have knowledge in applications programming using development environments such as Visual Basic, C#, or any other type of structured text syntax.
Have knowledge in virtualization, and/or exposure to virtualized systems.

What you will do:
Automation Design
Support proof of concept definition and execution activities
PLC software development and troubleshooting
Human Machine Interface (HMI) software development and troubleshooting
Interact with data sources, such as databases
Verification and troubleshooting of equipment wiring, pneumatics, and automation components
Evaluate and troubleshoot applications programming code
Automation design evaluation
Vendor Management
Support user requirements definition for new equipment and/or systems
Request equipment proposals
Participate in vendor technical discussions
Review equipment design documentation and drawings
Monitor vendor timeline adherence
Support vendor commissioning phase
Project Implementation
Provide support during equipment installation activities
Support equipment commissioning and systems integration
Support equipment and process qualification activities
Support engineering studies definition and execution
Support equipment performance monitoring and evaluation
Travel: Must be willing to travel approximately 10% - 25%
