Summary

Position Overview

This role serves as the primary technical expert supporting leadership in driving energy management initiatives, capital budget planning, and long-range project development. The focus is on aligning these efforts with financial, strategic, and operational plans across the organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the subject matter expert (SME) and lead contact for program compliance at the site, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and audit requirements. Responsibilities include the development, design, and oversight of energy conservation projects while maintaining adherence to federal and state regulations and approved specifications.
  • Serve as the technical expert overseeing energy systems monitoring—including motive power, thermal energy, HVAC, and other related systems—to track energy usage and identify opportunities for savings. Recommend and implement design or process changes that enhance efficiency, quality, and performance.
  • Analyze energy consumption (electrically and thermodynamically) to model, monitor, and propose operational adjustments or capital projects that improve energy efficiency across the site.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support for design modifications or process improvements that drive sustainability and operational performance.
  • Prepare detailed project documentation, technical reports, and operational summaries, including supporting data for leadership presentations.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to site leadership proposing the use of alternative energy systems and new technologies.
  • Act as the primary site contact for energy-related construction design materials including drawings, calculations, system layouts, and technical specifications.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with applicable domestic and international energy certification requirements.
  • Design and deliver training programs related to energy management for internal teams, fostering a culture of energy awareness and sustainability.
  • Follow all safety and environmental protocols while performing job duties.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to move equipment or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds.
  • Regularly operates and inspects manufacturing equipment; may be required to strap and unstrap pallets.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours per shift.
  • May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 and, for certain roles, color vision.
  • May occasionally need to climb ladders or work at elevated heights.
  • May work in environments with odors, hazardous materials, or extreme cold.
  • May require use of latex gloves and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in loud environments with appropriate hearing protection.
  • May need to operate a motorized vehicle depending on role requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) or a technical discipline focused on Thermodynamics from an accredited institution is required.
  • An associate degree in an engineering field with a minimum of 5 years of proven field engineering experience in a manufacturing setting may also be considered.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct field engineering experience in a manufacturing facility required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in alternative energy systems and symbiotic system integration aimed at reducing energy consumption.
  • Familiarity with engineering design standards related to system operations and interactions is a plus.
  • Experience conducting energy assessments in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Background in supporting or executing project management initiatives is desirable.
