Position Overview:
The Supervisor - EMS Shift Operations is responsible for providing on-site supervision and support to EMS team members during their assigned shifts. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, from supporting emergency operations to managing day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of high-quality and safe patient care and transport. The Supervisor will evaluate all aspects of workflow related to customer, patient, and team member needs, supporting continuity in shift operations, including staffing, supplies, and asset management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site supervision and support to EMS team members during emergency response and transport operations.
- Oversee day-to-day operations during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures that promote high-quality patient care.
- Evaluate workflow processes to address customer service, patient needs, and team member satisfaction effectively.
- Ensure continuity of operations by managing staffing, overseeing supply inventory, and tracking asset locations.
- Support and guide team members in clinical decision-making, ensuring adherence to scope of practice and protocols.
- Promote a culture of respect, integrity, teamwork, and excellence within the EMS team.
- Demonstrate analytical skills by evaluating problem situations in depth and making independent decisions that ensure safety and optimize patient outcomes.
- Lead a diverse team, managing, directing, and facilitating effective communication to achieve operational goals.
- Multitask effectively, prioritizing assignments and delegating workload as necessary.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in Emergency Medical Services or a related field.
- Current Paramedic certification as specified by the Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission, or an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license required.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required.
- Knowledge of EMS systems and familiarity with specific equipment and supplies used in the field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Must possess an active, unrestricted driver’s license in Indiana.
- Strong verbal and nonverbal interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and lead diverse teams.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and delegate responsibilities as needed.
- Capacity for clinical reasoning and decision-making aligned with personal scope of practice.
