POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for fostering a positive, productive and inclusive work environment by addressing employee concerns, mediating disputes, providing guidance and support to both employees and managers and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a point of contact for employees seeking guidance or support on employee relations matters
- Conduct thorough investigations into employee complaints, grievances, and other workplace concerns, recommend appropriate actions, and ensure timely resolution and documentation
- Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on addressing employee performance concerns and/or policy violations
- Stay up to date on labor laws, and regulations to ensure compliance with all applicable requirements
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends, tools, software and other best practices
- Collect and analyze data related to employee relations matters to identify trends, areas for improvement, and recommendations to improve employee retention
- Assist in the implementation of HR policies and procedures that promote a positive and inclusive work environment
- Developing and implementing programs to enhance employee engagement, satisfaction and retention
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards
- Assist in HR functions ensuring alignment with TAS policies, values, strategic objectives
- Prepare and submit HR reports to management, highlighting areas for improvement
- Complete employee exit interviews
- Perform other duties as assigned by TAS

Education & Training
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
- Extensive experience or training in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree
Minimum Requirements
- Three years of Employee Relations experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment
- Thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges
- Must have a high level of integrity and professionalism, with a commitment to values of safety, integrity, and teamwork
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with employees at all levels
- Must have proficiency in HR software and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Must be willing to travel to various locations as needed and maintain a flexible work schedule to meet with employees on all shifts when necessary
Preferred Requirements
- HR Certifications such as SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are highly desirable
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
The position is at least 80% travel to TAS locations in the Houston metro area, with a substantial amount of time engaging in direct communication and computer-based activities. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Performs other physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal, and conduct extensive reading. The incumbent will be subject to inside environmental conditions.
