Summary

Hours of Work : 40 Days Of Week : Mon - Fri Work Shift : Job Description : The Emergency Management Coordinator assists with implementation and creation of a comprehensive all-hazard Emergency Management Program for Methodist Health System. The Coordinator is expected to participate in the planning, development, implementation and administration of the Emergency Management Program system-wide. Education: Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Environmental Science, Environmental Health and Safety, or Public Safety or related field required Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred): * National Incident Management System ICS 100, 200, 700 & 800 - Required * OSHA 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) - Preferred * Basic training in Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) response - Required * Valid state of Texas driver's license * Training in HazMat, Mass Casualty Incidents, HICS, HSEEP, and/or training from FEMA's CDP - Preferred * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred but not required Related Work Experience and Other Skills: * Five or more years of emergency response and/or emergency management experience. * Experience working in heath care emergency management organization is preferred. * Experience in hazardous materials response and decontamination is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Knowledgeable of customer service principles. * Knowledgeable of The Joint Commission Standards, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Conditions of Participation/Emergency Preparedness Rule, State of Texas requirements, and OSHA requirements for Emergency Management for medical facilities throughout the Network. * Expert Facilitator; Knowledgeable of statistics and data presentation. * Skilled in the practical and logical reasoning required to apply problem solving process to a variety of management situations. * Ability to exhibit consistent professional attitude required to serve as role model. * Ability to concentrate amidst distraction. * Ability to develop, implement and maintain hospital Emergency Operations Plans. Create and Provide education and training to clinical staff, support staff, administration, and specialized staff throughout the MHS system on Emergency Management * Ability to coordinate and manage response in emergencies/non-emergencies for life safety incidents which include but are not limited to evacuation, sheltering, hazardous materials, floods, severe weather, and internal and external disasters. * Ability to organize and manage time effectively. * Ability to provide leadership and motivate others. * Ability to implement a decision-making process using interpersonal social skills to gain cooperation of supervisors, peers and coworkers. Job Roles 1. Assists in coordination of the hospital's specialized response teams (HazMat/Decon, Special Infections, etc.) in accordance with appropriate standards. 2. Assist in completion of training and documentation required for such programs. 3. Chair/Attend meetings related to Emergency Management. 4. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to develop, implement and evaluate disaster response, mitigation and recovery policies, procedures and practices based on current local, state, regional and national standards. Functions as a facilitator and innovator for care of patients during a disaster. 5. Assist in design and participates in all disaster exercises and drills that are required by all governing agency requirements. 6. Participates in maintaining the Hospital Command Center for emergency responses, disasters, and exercises. 7. Available for after-hours mitigation for Emergency Preparedness as delegated by the Director. 8. Aids the EM department with community partners to identify and analyze community hazards that would require a response from MHS. 9. Performs other related job duties as assigned.
