Embryologist – Genetic Engineering & Reproductive Technologies
Location: Austin, TX (or willing to relocate)
Company: LAP
Job Type: Full-time
About Us:
The LAP is redefining what’s possible in genetic engineering. We’re creating the next generation of engineered life pushing beyond selective breeding and into direct, intentional biological design. Our team works at the cutting edge of embryology, gene editing, and synthetic biology to sculpt the future of living organisms.
The Role:
We’re looking for an embryologist who’s not just comfortable working with embryos but excited to push the limits of what can be done with them. You’ll be working hands-on with oocyte and embryo culture, microinjection techniques, and genetic modifications to develop new engineered organisms. If you’ve worked with CRISPR, iSCNT, transgenics, or other advanced reproductive biotechnologies, we want to talk to you.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform oocyte and embryo isolation, micromanipulation, and culture
- Conduct microinjections for genetic modifications (CRISPR, base editing, other novel techniques)
- Develop new embryo handling and engineering protocols to push past traditional methods
- Work alongside genetic engineers to implement precise modifications at the earliest developmental stages
- Optimize viability, implantation, and developmental success rates for engineered embryos
What We’re Looking For:
- PhD or strong industry experience in Embryology, Developmental Biology, Reproductive Biotechnology, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with micromanipulation, microinjection, and embryo culture
- Familiarity with genetic engineering technologies (CRISPR, TALENs, base editing, iSCNT, etc.)
- Strong ability to troubleshoot lab protocols and innovate on existing techniques
- A mindset that challenges boundaries and a willingness to experiment beyond the norm
Why LAP?
- Work at the frontier of biology, developing organisms that have never existed before
- A fast-moving, ambitious environment where your work has immediate impact
- Competitive salary, equity options, and the chance to shape the future of engineered life
If this sounds like the kind of work you’ve been waiting for, reach out. We want people who aren’t afraid to redefine biology itself.
