Your Role

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer at ALTEN, you will:

  • Develop, maintain, and improve software modules used in ALTEN products;
  • Collaborate with the hardware team to define microcontroller control and ensure seamless system integration;
  • Define and document firmware designs, system architecture, specifications, and test procedures;
  • Conduct feasibility studies on new technologies and report findings;
  • Maintain contact with relevant certification bodies and suppliers;
  • Support and advise other departments on software-related matters;
  • Lead strategic decision-making within the team to determine optimal solutions and architectures;
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.


What We Ask

  • Minimum HBO (Higher Professional Education) level of thinking and working;
  • At least 8 years of proven experience in C/C++ software development;
  • Strong knowledge of embedded software design principles and methodologies;
  • Excellent command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written;
  • Residency in the Netherlands;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to systematically analyze and resolve issues;
  • Hands-on, proactive, and a strong communicator;
  • Ability to define and communicate technical vision and architecture;
  • Full-time availability preferred.


What We Consider a Plus

  • Affinity with electronics and experience reading schematic diagrams;
  • Experience with embedded Linux, RTOS, and Python;
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, (R)MII;
  • Experience with fieldbus communication systems;
  • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts, including vulnerability analysis, encryption, PKI, and IEC 62443;
  • Experience with Git, Unit Testing, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
