Summary

Join Wiseled as an Embedded Software Engineer

Are you ready to illuminate the future of cutting-edge technology? At Wiseled, we specialize in designing and delivering advanced lighting solutions for the most demanding environments. We’re looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team and push the boundaries of innovation by seamlessly integrating hardware and software from concepts to product launched.

About the Role

We are on a growth journey and are looking for a team member ready to play a key role in reaching our goal, to become the leading high performance LED illuminator and laser provider.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in designing and developing embedded software solutions that power our next-generation products. This role demands technical excellence, independence, and strong collaboration skills to ensure seamless hardware-software integration and optimal system performance.

We focus on product development and team collaboration. 90% of your working time goes directly into product development closely together with the rest of your good colleagues. We strive to have as few meetings as possible and we have a short distance from developer to management decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain firmware for STM32 microcontrollers, ensuring high performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Configure and integrate microcontroller peripherals such as GPIOs, timers, ADC, DAC, UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and PWM.
  • Implement real-time systems using RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) or develop solutions tailored to system requirements.
  • Design, develop, and debug embedded communication protocols, including I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, and Ethernet, ensuring compliance with required standards.
  • Perform system integration, testing, and debugging using hardware tools such as JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • Optimize firmware for low-power consumption, real-time responsiveness, and efficient memory usage.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to align software requirements with hardware designs and support the production and deployment phases.
  • Write and maintain detailed technical documentation for firmware development, configuration, and testing processes.
  • Develop test cases for hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulations to ensure quality and performance of the developed firmware.
  • Address field issues and implement firmware updates to support post-deployment product lifecycle.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Practical experience with STM32 microcontrollers or similar ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers.
  • Proficiency in programming languages C and C++ for embedded systems; familiarity with assembly language is an advantage.
  • Experience with IDEs and tools such as STM32CubeIDE, Keil µVision, or IAR Embedded Workbench.
  • Expertise in debugging and testing embedded systems using tools like JTAG/SWD debuggers, logic analyzers, or oscilloscopes.
  • Solid understanding of embedded communication protocols (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN) and their implementation.
  • Familiarity with RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS) and real-time task scheduling concepts.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, datasheets, and interface external components like sensors, actuators, or displays.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an analytical mindset for debugging hardware-software interaction issues.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly in written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices in embedded systems.
  • Experience with safety-critical standards like ISO 26262 or IEC 61508.
  • Familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
  • Experience with model-based design tools like MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Exposure to designing or working with power-optimized embedded systems.
