Job Title: Embedded Controls Engineer
Job Description
The Project Engineer helps define the functionality of embedded control systems. This role does not involve actual circuit board design but focuses on understanding the environment in which the control systems will operate, such as fire trucks, large boats and yachts, and military vehicles. The position involves the design, analysis, and maintenance of control systems for new and existing products, and the management of engineering projects related to new control systems.
Responsibilities
* Manage control system projects through all development phases, from System Requirements Analysis to System Integration & Testing, and finally to release to production.
* Assist in leading the Product Development Team to ensure timely completion of engineering projects, maintaining product features that comply with specifications while achieving project and product costs.
* Design new electronic control hardware, including schematic review, circuit board review, and various design calculations.
* Ensure the coordination of hardware and software development.
* Write control system documentation, including hardware & software design specifications, and hardware and software test plans.
* Evaluate hardware and software deviation requests and recommend changes for product improvement.
* Oversee the drafting of new products and product modifications.
* Write Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and modified products.
Essential Skills
* 5+ years of experience working with embedded systems and standard software languages including embedded C.
* 2+ years of recent experience specifying control systems with respect to system configuration, software logic, and electronic hardware design.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Hardware design experience.

The work environment includes a typical office atmosphere with good collaboration and tenure among team members. The company supports a flexible hybrid schedule to maintain work/life balance, with engineers averaging 50% onsite/remote. They have recently opened a new engineering office, conveniently located near the highway, to attract talent from Milwaukee or Northern Illinois.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
