The Assistant Principal is a key member of the school’s leadership team, reporting directly to the Principal. This dynamic and strategic leader plays a central role in fostering a culture of academic excellence, strong scholar support, and community partnership. The Assistant Principal helps oversee daily operations, supports instructional quality, and ensures a safe, inclusive, and growth-oriented environment for both scholars and staff in the elementary school program. This leader oversees K through 6th grade.


Leadership & Administration

  • Serve as a core member of the leadership team, collaborating on school-wide strategies and initiatives.
  • Act as the Principal’s designee as needed, ensuring continuity in leadership and alignment with the school's mission.
  • Lead professional development sessions focused on instructional excellence, school culture, and scholar support.
  • Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among faculty and staff, modeling best practices.
  • Serve as a liaison to families and external partners, building relationships that support the school community.
  • Engage in proactive problem-solving and data-informed decision-making to strengthen school systems.
  • Support hiring processes for the elementary team and represent the school in key committees and events.

Scholar Discipline & Support

  • Lead the development and maintenance of a positive, structured, and supportive school culture.
  • Manage scholar behavior referrals and coach teachers through appropriate responses and follow-up.
  • Champion restorative practices that prioritize accountability, growth, and mutual respect.
  • Design and refine intervention strategies to proactively address behavioral trends and support social-emotional learning.

Instruction & Coaching

  • Provide direct coaching and instructional leadership across grades, enhancing teacher effectiveness and curriculum fidelity.
  • Supervise and mentor a designated cohort of teachers through observations, feedback, and goal-setting.
  • Lead data cycles, ensuring effective use of assessments and student data to drive instruction.
  • Collaborate with teachers on MAP data analysis and scholar learning plans.
  • Oversee lesson plan reviews, report cards, pacing, and curriculum implementation.
  • Partner with internal coaches and external partners to improve instruction and scholar outcomes.

Operational Leadership

  • Manage daily scheduling, including specialist rotations (K2–Grade 6) and coverage for teacher absences.
  • Oversee scholar technology use (e.g., iPads, Chromebooks), ensuring alignment with instructional goals.
  • Ensure accurate data entry and standards alignment in the student information system (SIS).
  • Coordinate logistics for major initiatives (e.g., MAP testing, curriculum rollouts).
  • Collaborate with custodial staff to maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment.
  • Manage pre-practicum placements, interns, and community partner programs.
  • Oversee curriculum materials budgets and ordering for elementary classrooms.
