Job Title: Certified Electrician
Department: Manufacturing
Reports To: Plant Manager
Status: Non-exempt
Salary Range: $35.00 - $45.00
(Actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience)
Summary
Responsible for planning, laying out, installing, wiring, and energizing the electrical components for Newterra water treatment systems as per project drawings and specifications and in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Leads electrical installations as required. Also coordinates duties for apprentices, electrical assemblers, and contractors.
- Assembles, installs, tests, and maintains electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, conduit, and fixtures using hand and power tools.
- Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a failure and correct the problem.
- Inspects and tests electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Connects equipment, complete pre-test power verification documentation.
- Assists Testing department with energized work as required.
- Follows electrical safety and lock-out procedures and electrical safe work practices.
- Collaborates with the Engineering, Production and Testing teams to resolve any issues that arise.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties And Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing duties in a safe manner and promoting safety to others in accordance with Newterra’s safety policies and procedures. This includes reporting all safety concerns, near-misses, and incidents.
- Adhere to the company processes as detailed in Newterra’s business operating system and brings forward ideas for continuous improvement.
- Responsible for completing all assigned training applicable to your position in the applicable timeframe.
- Complete all responsibilities while ensuring adherence to Newterra’s Delegation of Authority.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Is a Certified Journeyman Electrician.
- Basic PLC knowledge will be an asset.
- Wiring experience in hazardous locations will be an asset.
- Industrial wiring experience and troubleshooting ability.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and P&ID drawings.
- Purchase and maintain tools needed to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Must be able to work overtime as required.

Physical Demands
Must be able to use both hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls, stand for long periods of time, and repeat the same motions. Must also be able to push, pull and maneuver up to 50 pounds.

Frequently works outdoors. Often wears protective attire, such as safety goggles, masks, or ear plugs. May be exposed to hazardous situations when working with electrical systems and elements such as loud noise, hazardous equipment, heat, dirt, dust, fumes, and other materials. Exposure to hot or cold temperatures or inclement weather based on indoor or outdoor conditions. Company safety standards must be always followed.
