Job Description

The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician is responsible for programming, drive commissioning, installation, and general maintenance at Redpath Raiseboring Limited. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including program loading, troubleshooting, drive start-up, and commissioning. The technician will also provide technical support for field projects both within Canada and internationally, ensuring seamless operations across diverse project environments.

Successful applicant will be required to successfully complete pre-employment drug, alcohol and medical evaluation.

Location: Raisebore Electrical Shop - North Bay, ON.

Rotation: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

Travel: Local and international travel may be required

Maintenance

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Program and install programs on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) using Rockwell Automation software
• Diagnose and resolve issues in PLC and HMI programs by identifying faults, rectifying errors in control logic, and ensuring the proper functionality of input/output signals.
• Configure and commission Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) from leading manufacturers such as ABB, Rockwell, and Yaskawa.
• Proficient in facilitating efficient load sharing across multiple drive systems to maintain operational stability and enhance productivity, while adhering to safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
• Possess a strong understanding of motors and the functionality of motor-driven systems.
• Configure, install, and calibrate a wide range of sensors and control devices, ensuring accurate measurement and reliable performance across various applications.
• Assist in the design, fabrication, and assembly of electrical equipment, ensuring precision and adherence to technical specifications
• Interpret electrical and P&ID schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams
• Ensure compliance with ESA standards, company procedures, and safety regulations
  
  

Field Operations And International Support

• Provide support to field operations and RRL subsidiaries domestically and internationally.
• Remain available, within reason, to support field and international operations.
• Ensure that field support queries are addressed and adequately prioritized as they are routed to cross-functional departments.
