Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Instrumentation Design Engineer for a full-time, on-site position in the UAE. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 8 years of marine engineering experience, with a strong focus on production engineering activities for offshore platforms-preferably related to the Norfolk HVDC platform. Immediate joiners currently on a visit or cancelled visa in the UAE will be prioritized.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop instrumentation and electrical design packages for process control (DCS/PLC/SCADA), safety systems (ESD/F&G/HIPPS), and telecom (CCTV/PAGA/navigation)
- Perform engineering calculations including control valve sizing and hazardous area classification
- Prepare and review technical deliverables compliant with API, IEC, ISA, NFPA, and ATEX standards
- Lead production engineering activities for offshore platforms, with emphasis on Norfolk HVDC platform experience preferred
- Utilize AVEVA E3D software for 3D design and modeling of electrical and instrumentation systems
- Prepare 2D drafting and drawings using AutoCAD
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and standards accurately
- Conduct HAZOP/SIL studies and perform design risk assessments
- Coordinate procurement activities, including FAT/SAT witnessing
- Implement functional safety documentation and SIL verification
- Ensure cybersecurity compliance for critical control and safety systems
- Manage engineering deliverables within project schedules and budgets
- Support site visits and inspections in offshore environments as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent
- Minimum 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in marine engineering with offshore production engineering exposure (Norfolk HVDC platform experience preferred)
- Proficient in AVEVA E3D for 3D design and modeling
- Skilled in AutoCAD for 2D drafting and drawing preparation
- Strong technical understanding of electrical and instrumentation systems for offshore facilities
- Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and international standards
- Experience with DCS/PLC/SCADA systems (DeltaV, Allen Bradley) and safety instrumented systems (ESD, F&G, HIPPS)
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification standards (ATEX, IECEx)
- Familiarity with API (14C, 14F, 17N), IEC (61508, 61511), ISA (84, 5.1), NFPA 70 (NEC) standards
- Proficiency with engineering tools such as SmartPlant Instrumentation (INTOOLS), InstruCalc or similar calculation software
- Valid offshore medical/safety certifications (BOSIET preferred)
- Excellent communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus
- Currently residing in the UAE on a visit visa or cancelled visa and able to join immediately upon selection
