The Electrical Inspector plays a crucial role in ensuring the compliance of all electrical work on the wind project with project specifications, industry codes, and safety regulations. This position involves inspecting, testing, and verifying electrical installations to uphold quality standards while collaborating closely with contractors and project teams to maintain adherence to engineering drawings and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
Perform inspections of various electrical systems such as wiring, grounding, switchgear, transformers, and control panels.
Verify compliance with NEC, IEC, IEEE, and project-specific electrical codes and standards.
Inspect electrical installations for terminations, torque values, insulation resistance, and overall workmanship.
Review and approve electrical work based on project specifications and quality control procedures.
Conduct visual and functional inspections of electrical components to ensure proper energization.
Testing & Verification
Witness and document various electrical tests including megger testing, high-potential testing, and functional performance testing.
Verify that electrical grounding and bonding systems meet project requirements.
Oversee commissioning activities to ensure proper energization sequences and safe startup procedures.
Identify non-conformances and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
Compliance & Documentation
Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions taken.
Prepare daily and weekly reports on inspection findings along with status updates.
Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA, and other safety regulations related to electrical systems.
Collaborate with site engineers, contractors, and safety personnel to address compliance issues.
Coordination & Communication
Work closely with construction teams, project managers, subcontractors to address electrical issues effectively.
Support safety meetings by actively participating in audits and risk assessments.
Assist in reviewing accuracy of electrical installation drawings like single-line diagrams and cable schedules.
Skills
Strong knowledge of NEC codes

Qualifications
Previous experience in electrical inspection or a related field is preferred. A certification in Electrical Inspection or a relevant field is a plus.
