Electrical Engineer - Substation Protection & Control
Location: Albuquerque, NM 87109.
Job Type and Duration: Long term contract to perm hire
 
Job Description:
Our Client is a global EPC company and is looking for individuals with Protection and Controls Design experience to join their growing Substation Engineering team.
This position will provide development and design services on 7.2kV-345kV protection and control projects for utility applications.
This position will be responsible for the development of items including the drafting and design of engineering deliverables on utility Distribution and Substation design projects and requires interface with utility clients and collaboration across multiple offices.
Duties include preparation of engineering deliverables for electric substation projects such as:

• Electrical one-line drawings, protection system schemes, electrical network system architecture, detailed physical layouts, construction drawings and programming.
• Equipment and material selection and specification.
• Control building design including AC and DC panels, batteries and charger
• Bid and construction contract documents.
• Supervisory control and data acquisition SCADA upgrades and additions.
• Switchgear, bus work, recloser, and circuit breaker control and operation.
• CT sizing and selection.
• Relay panel design & wiring.
• Experience with protective relay applications (SEL, GE, Basler, ABB).

Job Requirements:
2+ years industry experience preferred.
Knowledge of substation protection and control schemes, basic relay settings, and substation construction standards and methods.
Desire to gain knowledge of  Engineering Standards including NEC, API, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI.
Education:
Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 3 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred) is Required. 
or 
Bachelor Degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 3 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred) is Required 
or 
Master Degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 years of electrical engineering experience (consulting preferred) is Required.
