Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing electrical designs and shop drawings, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and quality assurance practices. You will collaborate closely with project stakeholders to monitor construction activities, address technical challenges, and support the successful delivery of projects in line with client expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review electrical design drawings in co-ordination with all related disciplines (Civil, Mechanical and Structural) as well as for contractor’s shop drawings approval.
  • Identify conflicts between the design requirements and/or existing conditions that may require a clarification or change, and coordinate with the Client and Contractors.
  • Monitor the execution works of contractors & suppliers & make sure they adhere to the standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Project Technical Specifications, International Standards, and OEM procedures and specifications.
  • Ensure quality requirements to develop effective quality control and processes including specifications for products or processes or related activities.
  • Provide guidance & training to ensure project staff & subcontractors understand & adhere to quality control standards & procedures.
  • Ensure that the Contractor complies with drawings and design in terms of design, materials and workmanship standards
  • Validate all electrical equipment, tools & materials meet with the project quality requirements & that personnel (operators) have been adequately trained to use them safely.
  • Monitor the progressive preparation of final quality documentation which should be concurrent and maintain backups of completed quality documentation.
  • Verify the implementation of corrective & preventive actions against the non-conformances and report the results to the client’s office.
  • Attend the inspection requests (IR) submitted by the contractor & verify that all necessary inspections and tests are carried out in a timely manner and appropriate records are kept updated & maintained.
  • Monitor routine inspection & maintain records of electrical works & manage site duties & submit weekly report & required information to the client’s office.
  • Identify near miss and non-conformances in materials, products, processes, procedures and report the near miss / non-conformances in the near miss / non-conformance report (NCR).
  • To follow up and ensure that the installation, inspection and testing of all the Electrical services and work implemented meets the specification and the client requirements.
  • Report any work carried out by contractor found to not be in accordance with approved drawing and specifications (non-conformities) & working with the project team to develop corrective action plans.
  • Review & perform material receiving inspection as per requirements, applicable standards / specifications etc.
  • Coordinate with clients / third parties concerning quality matters on site in accordance with approved ITP, for agreed witness inspections & tests.
  • Familiarity with detailed Testing & Commissioning Procedures. Test and commission related works after completion of construction and ensure its compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Ensure compliance of relevant safety, quality, and environmental management procedures and controls within defined area of work activity to guarantee safety, legislative compliance, and delivery of high-quality products/services.
  • Work closely with Project Manager, Engineers & other stakeholders to address quality-related issues & make adequately informed decisions.
  • Attend progress/ issues meetings to present the progress and observations/ obstacles. Check progress and quality of work and report to the Client's staff on a regular basis.
  • Conduct a final inspection to confirm that all work meets the quality control plan and project requirements. Prepare & organize quality-related documentation for project closeout.
  • Preparation and follow-up on Punch Lists. Raise Punch items, provide clear description of the gaps and the requirement to close those gaps and assist the Contractors in meeting the requirements to deliver successfully. Participate in the project review sessions.
  • Arrange and action checklist for special activities on site. Ensure close-out of all snags / punch-points within the time frame agreed.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum [5-8] years of relevant experience in electrical design review, construction supervision, quality control, and commissioning on major building or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering standards, codes (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA), and quality management systems (ISO 9001 standards).
  • Previous experience working in multidisciplinary environments, coordinating across Civil, Mechanical, and Structural teams.
  • Familiarity with Testing & Commissioning Procedures for electrical systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, low current systems, etc.).
  • Proficient in reviewing shop drawings, technical submittals, and material specifications.
  • Solid understanding of construction site practices, quality inspection techniques, and project management principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and client-facing skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiar with AutoCAD, Revit, or other design review tools is a plus.
  • Professional certification (e.g., PMP, CQE) is advantageous.
  • Membership of a recognized engineering society (e.g., IEEE, IET) is preferred.
