Position: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Houston, TX (Onsite)

Max Experience: 15 years Essential Functions:

  • Perform and complete detailed designs of electrical/instrument projects assigned.
  • Work within a design team responsible for the execution of engineering and design packages to be issued for construction
  • Work with plant staff, engineers, and other disciplines to develop drawing package content necessary for successful installations
  • Assist project engineering, discipline engineers, and other designers with E/I deliverables.
  • Perform necessary field research to as-built/modify existing drawings or aid in the creation of new detail design drawings.
  • Generate accurate and representative design packages using CAD.
  • 3-D Modeling can be utilized but not required.
  • Coordinate with other design disciplines to ensure continuity in deliverables.
  • Follow all EMPCo standards and project execution procedures
  • Assist with field monitoring and coordination of projects during construction.
  • Promote safety in all aspects of involvement

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of Design/Drafting curriculum from an accredited institution (Preferred).
  • Additional Field Technician experience is also of great value towards base credentials.
  • 5-10 years of design/drafting experience in the electrical/instrument discipline
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical/instrumentation systems (PLCs, measurement instruments, control panel and power wiring, etc.) and installation details for industrial applications.
  • Previous experience in an Oil and Gas/ Refinery/ Petrochemical plant is a must.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of EMPCo Drafting Standards and Specifications which apply to his/her assigned project.
  • Ability to make field trips and participate in project meetings
  • Aptitude for understanding technical & construction terminology
  • Current TWIC Card needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, and solution advocate
  • Team player and willing to assist with helping other staff.
