Electrical Automation Technician


Our client, a leading local manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Electrical Automation Technician to join their automation & engineering team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation systems and contribute to the continuous improvement of operations.


About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in electrical systems and automation, coupled with hands-on experience in troubleshooting and maintaining industrial control systems. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and safety of electrical automation systems while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to drive efficiency and innovation. Your expertise will play a vital role in maintaining equipment performance and implementing improvements to meet operational goals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electrical automation systems and other control systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to ensure accurate system implementation.
  • Perform regular safety checks and ensure compliance with electrical safety standards.
  • Maintain machinery, tools, and equipment inventory; recommend replacements or upgrades as needed.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team to implement continuous improvement strategies for system performance.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in automation systems, electrical troubleshooting, or related roles.
  • Experience with panel wiring and electrical connections; familiarity with wiring standards and practices.


Skills and Expertise

  • Basic knowledge of sensors (e.g., proximity, photoelectric, capacitive) and their applications in automation systems.
  • Basic understanding of electrical control systems, PLC programming, and HMI interfaces.
  • Proficient in reading electrical schematics and system blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and protocols in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment occasionally and work in industrial conditions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
