The Lillooet Learning Communities Society (Lillooet Learns) as the host organization of the Community Connect Innovation HUB and associated programs, has developed a baseline program that supports Elders in the Lillooet Area by connecting them to other Elders and to key services. Now as an agency of the United Way, funded by the Government of British Columbia, the program is expanding to include an official Better at Home service, which provides a range of services for adults over 65 years of age to support them to continue living independently in their own homes. The main goal of this program is to provide non-medical home support services to Seniors living at home and to connect Seniors through gatherings and activities.
About the Position:
The Elder Connect/Better at Home Coordinator works with community partners to develop and coordinate the Better at Home program in the Lillooet area, building upon existing community services provided to seniors.
This person will be highly competent at running programming and will be responsible for developing all aspects of the program based on funder requirements and community needs. This position is for someone who is highly flexible, who has a willingness to do some work from home, is capable of completing tasks on their own and who has excellent people skills.
Compensation: $28-30/hour, for 25 – 35 hours a week (Flexible)

Reports to: HUB Manager and Lillooet Learns Board of Directors
Lillooet Learns is willing to negotiate the number of hours per week to accommodate employee needs. 35 to 40 hours a week available until end of March through the program, and then down to 20 to 25 hours a week. Once employed, there will be an opportunity to increase hours by participating in other programs and projects taking place in the Community Connect Innovation HUB.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Maintains existing Elder Connect community advisory group to inform the development of the program in the Lillooet region and arranges/attends community meetings as needed
Develops and maintains a process and procedure manual for offering services to program participants
Conducts outreach and implements marketing measures to connect to isolated or vulnerable seniors to ensure accessibility of services
Recruits and works with volunteers, staff, and contractors to carry out the required service
Provides training and support to volunteers, staff, and contractors to perform required tasks
Schedules volunteer, staff and contractor services for clients
Develops and maintains supportive relationships with existing and new senior clients receiving program services
Develops and maintains a plan for engaging with Indigenous Communities regarding senior support services, including complimenting existing services being provided and reaching parity across program participants
Attends meetings with Community Connect Innovation HUB Team, Better at Home Coordinators and United Way representatives and any applicable community meetings. Occasionally tends Board of Directors meetings if applicable
Ensures all services meet Better at Home standards
Maintains up-to-date records, produces required written reports and program budget reports to the HUB Manager and Board of Directors
Develop program website content and update website pages and portals relating to the position
Maintains statistical records for accountability, funding applications, funder reports and program development purposes
Ensures services are provided within the financial budget
Seeks out personal and professional development opportunities
Performs other related tasks as required
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience developing and managing community programs
Knowledge of local community resources
Experience working with the senior population
Bachelor’s degree in social science/human services or a related discipline is an asset
Administrative and financial reporting experience is preferred.
