Audubon is seeking an experienced and dynamic E&I Fabrication Technician to support our fabrication facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical and instrumentation, with a particular focus on power systems, including Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear, Motor Control Center (MCC) integration, and drives. Additionally, proven leadership and management skills are essential. The E&I Fabrication Technician will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the fabrication shop and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee aspects of day-to-day operations in the E&I fabrication shop.
Develop and implement efficient production processes for power systems, including MV switchgear, MCC integration, and drives, to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Coordinate with project managers and other departments to prioritize workload and ensure timely delivery of fabricated components.
Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and performance in power-related fabrication tasks.
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement within the fabrication team.
Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols in all fabrication processes, with particular attention to power system fabrication.
Implement quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and product quality for MV switchgear, MCC integration, and drives.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and address any issues proactively.
Maintain, or willing to obtain, UL598A/698A Qualified Manufacturer’s Technical Representative (MTR) certification.
Manage inventory levels of raw materials, tools, and equipment specific to power system fabrication.
Optimize resource utilization and minimize waste to enhance efficiency and reduce costs in power-related fabrication tasks.
Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and supplies needed for power system fabrication.
Liaise with engineering, design, and project management teams to review specifications, resolve technical issues, and ensure alignment with project requirements, particularly in power-related aspects.
Communicate regularly with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, resource requirements, and potential risks related to power system fabrication.
Support sales activities including proposals.
Foster positive relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to support project delivery and business growth, emphasizing expertise in power systems.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in E&I fabrication and Building Integration, with significant experience in power systems, including MV switchgear, MCC integration, and drives
Experience with analyzer integration, control systems, and skid packaged automation systems such as HPUs is a plus.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, with expertise in power system fabrication techniques and welding processes.
Proven leadership and team management skills, with a focus on power-related tasks and motivating a diverse workforce.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in project management software and MS Office Suite.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as NEC, NETA, ISA, IEEE, and ASME, particularly as they relate to power systems.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with an emphasis on power system fabrication.
