Summary

Job Title: EHS Specialist Job Description This position is responsible for ensuring governmental regulatory compliance in all areas related to safety and providing support to manufacturing activities. The role involves conducting safety meetings, inspecting work sites and equipment, investigating accidents, assessing employee injuries with follow-up, implementing and controlling DOT policies, and coordinating employee training programs. The EHS Specialist will examine environment and safety trends, investigate to assign cause, and provide corrective action suggestions. Additionally, this position assists in authoring safety-related SOPs and SOP revisions, as well as training programs, and acts as liaison with community emergency response agencies. Responsibilities * Investigate property damage accidents, prepare required reports, and communicate information to appropriate locations. * Investigate employee injury accidents, prepare written reports, communicate information to appropriate locations, and provide follow-up to ensure successful conclusion to incident. * Review accident and incident documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete and accurate; ensure corrective action is implemented. * Lead and collaborate with the team in investigating all safety incidents to determine cause, implement corrective actions, and report incidents, as required. * Conduct routine documented inspections of all work sites and equipment to ensure compliance with company safety policies and provide on-site hazards assessment with coordinated corrective action if necessary. Essential Skills * Minimum of 1 year of safety experience in a manufacturing setting. * Bachelor's degree. * Intermediate computer skills. * Understanding of DOT and DEC regulations. * Risk management expertise. * Experience in developing and presenting effective safety training. * Knowledge of federal, state & local occupational health & safety regulations. * Understanding of basic safety principles and OSHA regulations. * OSHA 511 certification. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Exposure to environmental compliance topics such as waste handling and spill response is preferred. Work Environment The role is situated in a manufacturing plant. The work involves substantial time using a computer, reading reports, and communicating with coworkers. Physical activities include standing, walking, mobility between departments, attending meetings, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. The position requires frequent handling of materials and equipment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.03 - $28.84/hr.
