Position Summary
Programs, sets-up, and operates production machines in the area of EDM. Trains and assists other operators. Familiar with a variety of operating concepts, practices, and procedures within particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Performs work under general supervision.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITES
- Programs, sets-up and/or operates EDM, wire and sinker machinery for final product development.
- Sets-up and operates engine lathe and surface grinders for electrodes and gauges.
- Designs fixtures and gauges for set-up and operation.
- Completes and routes inspection forms and job folders.
- Performs periodic maintenance on machines.
- Performs inventory control of machine consumables.
- Trains and assists other operators.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Advanced knowledge in blueprint reading, math and computer skills.
- Process flow knowledge
- Detail oriented and efficient.
- Ability to multi-task.
- General use of inspection equipment to include comparator and CMM.
- Above average computer skills for production data entry and programming.
- Must be able to complete tasks in a timely fashion.
- Must be detail-oriented with large emphasis on accuracy.
- May be required to meet certain certifications or training in area.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 4 years minimum experience in EDM or related field preferred

This position requires walking, sitting, communicating with others at least 1/3 of scheduled hours.
It also involves reaching and using hands and fingers to operate measuring instruments and machinery. Occasionally requires lifting of up to 50 pounds (under 1/3 of the time). Must have adequate dexterity with hands and able to work in small areas.
Vision Requirements
Must be able to read small print (6-12 font) with or without vision aides. The operator is occasionally required to view items at 20 inches or less, with or without vision aides.

- Work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time.
- Exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals under 1/3 of the time.
- Exposed to potential hazard from possible projectiles.
