About The Role

LGTC Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a full-time Milieu Counselor at our Eating Disorder Residential Treatment Centers (RTC). The RTC Milieu Counselor plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with eating disorders within a therapeutic environment. This position focuses on creating a safe and nurturing milieu that promotes recovery and personal growth. Counselors will work closely with clients to develop individualized treatment plans and facilitate group therapy sessions. The ultimate goal is to empower clients to develop healthier coping mechanisms and improve their overall well-being. By fostering a supportive community, the Milieu Counselor helps clients navigate their recovery journey effectively.

  • We are able to offer both full and part-time opportunities, but the ability to work Saturday and/or Sunday is required. The ability to work PM shifts, 3:00-11:30PM, is highly desired.

Responsibilities

As a Milieu Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our clients throughout their treatment journey, from admission to discharge. Your responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct support to clients in a residential treatment setting, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Welcoming new clients and introducing them to their primary treatment team.
  • Assessing and communicating any unique needs of new clients to the treatment team and ensuring those needs are addressed.
  • Modeling positive dietary behaviors by joining clients during meal times.
  • Promoting the well-being of all clients by serving as a positive role model in terms of dress, grooming, communication, and behavior.
  • Facilitating the execution of the treatment plan established by the Therapist and providing day-to-day support.
  • Leading therapeutic groups covering topics such as coping skills, relapse prevention, DBT, psychoeducation, and life skills.
  • Assisting the Program Director and Therapists in various aspects of client care, including discharge planning and transition support.
  • Cleaning and cooking for the clients.
  • Monitor client progress and provide feedback to the treatment team regarding behavioral changes and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and treatment progress in compliance with healthcare regulations.

Qualifications

  • Commitment to attending all training, education, and staff enrichment activities.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Proficiency in writing and typing in English.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university.
  • Preferred: One year of experience in working with children, mental health, counseling, or the eating disorder field.
  • Preferred: Spanish proficiency
