Summary

The Muncie-Delaware County Economic Development Alliance seeks qualified candidates for the full-time position of Economic Development Coordinator. This position is under the direct supervision of the Chief Economic Development Officer and will assist the Vice President of Economic Development and the Project Manager with the daily office activities necessary to facilitate the goals and objectives of the Economic Development Alliance.


Candidates applying for this position must be well organized, motivated, and willing to take on multiple tasks and responsibilities. The successful candidate will perform clerical, administrative, and research duties and will have frequent interaction with business community leaders and elected officials. This position requires exceptional interpersonal and written communication skills as well as a high degree of self-initiative and professionalism.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Handle confidential information with sensitivity and integrity.


  • Serve as primary coordinator of various event-related functions, which include confirming presenters, preparing thank you letters, scheduling rooms, scheduling food, registering guests, preparing name tags, coordinating audiovisual, and sending out reminders of events.


  • Attend meetings when asked or assigned and take minutes, coordinate technology needs, and set up meeting rooms when applicable.


  • Utilize outstanding interpersonal skills to maintain an effective working relationship with staff, boards, committees, and government officials.


  • Maintain financial software system for Vision 2027 economic development program. Handle billing/invoices and maintain records of all correspondence. Along with tracking and recording payments, send thank-you notes and acknowledgments. Reconcile with the Director of Finance monthly.


  • Multi-task and manage the completion of multiple projects, often with shifting priorities, while working under direct supervision or independently.


  • Maintain sites and buildings databases internally and on various websites.


  • Research potential projects and or prospects as assigned.


  • Maintain and manage social media and website for EDA. Create and distribute news releases.


  • Process purchase orders and expense reports for payment in a timely manner.


  • Set and monitor certain budget line items.


  • Help with the preparation and submission of grant applications and track all deadlines for applications and post-grant reports.


  • Assist in the completion of requests for information (RFI) and requests for proposal (RFP).


  • Maintain and gather information for marketing materials.


  • Maintain and order office supplies.


  • Perform other duties as required and directed by the Economic Development team.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Previous office experience and post-secondary credential preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, volunteers, and external contacts are crucial. Candidate must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, contracts, financial reports, and procedure manuals. Candidate must have the ability to write clear and accurate reports and correspondence. Candidate must possess the ability to speak effectively before management, employees, Board members, and vendors of the organization.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Ability to understand and use Windows-based computers and the basic office software, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office software and other database software. Graphic design software experience is a plus.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Approximately 90% of the position requires office work, 10% will include meeting with clients or performing duties outside of the office.

 

COMPENSATION

Salaried position. Benefits include insurance, 401K, paid holidays and paid vacation. Opportunities for training will be provided.
