Summary

Position Type: Early Childhood/Early Childhood Date Posted: 5/14/2025 Location: Long Early Learning Center Date Available: 07/28/2025   Additional Information: Show/Hide Primary Purpose: The Education Coordinator, under the supervision of the Head Start Director, is responsible for all aspects of the education program requirements as outlined in the Federal Performance Standards and state/local guidelines. Qualifications: Education/Certification: * Masters in education preferred, with mid-management certification (or in progress) Special Knowledge/Skills: * Working knowledge of elementary curriculum (K-5) * Familiarity and experience with state assessment preparation and disaggregation of test data * Technology skills such as Excel, Word, Outlook, Eduphoria and Promethean ActiV Studio * Effective Communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills a must Experience: * Five years of successful teaching experience preferred Major Responsibilities and Duties: Performance Responsibilities: * Participates as a member of the Early Childhood Development and Health Services Team. * Participates in scheduled interdisciplinary staffing meetings to assure continuity of comprehensive service delivery. * Serves as a public relations representative for Head Start, Pre-K, and Early Childhood to the community. * Works in collaboration with community agencies to secure partnership agreements for services to children and families. * Assumes responsibility for the supervision of either or both campuses in the absence of the Director/Principal and/or Assistant Director/Principal. * Provides guidance, support, and suggestions to the educational staff concerning developmentally appropriate early childhood education strategies and child development. * Provides model teaching, classroom observations, peer coaching, and works as a member of the Administrative Support Team in developing individualized teacher improvement plans. * Works with the Assistant Principal/Head Start Director to collect, compile, and analyze Child Outcomes Data. * Implements transition services provided by the Head Start program to the Local Education Agency (LEA) * Works with the disabilities specialist to assure smooth transition into and out of Head Start for children with disabilities. * Provides and/or schedules direct transition services to parents, children, community agencies, or elementary schools requiring transition assistance. * Organizes the development and annual review of the education portion of the Child Development and Health Plan, ensuring that parents and staff understand the Federal Performance Standards and procedures for developing a sound plan. * Implements the education program by working closely with the staff to actualize the education portion of the Child Development and Health Plan. This includes individualizing the program for each child, creating an appropriate learning environment, implementing the curriculum, managing the classroom, preparing weekly lesson plans, and involving the parents in the program. * Acts as a resource for instructional staff. * Serves as an advocate for quality programming for children and families. * Participates in the annual self-assessment evaluation process. * Monitors teachers' weekly lesson plans and planning meetings on campus. * Attends ARD meetings as a member of the ARD committee and assists in assuring that an appropriate placement and IEP are developed. * Monitors and analyzes academic data for all enrolled children. * Performs other duties as assigned by the Director/Principal of the Head Start - Early Childhood Program.
