Job Summary The Cardiac Stress Technician is responsible for conducting a range of cardiac stress tests, including nuclear medicine stress tests, exercise stress tests, tilt table tests, dobutamine echo stress tests, echo stress tests, and performing EKGs Reports to: Job Specific Responsibilities Daily assignments may include but are not limited to: Provide clear instructions and patient education prior to testing; Prepare and monitor patients during testing Administer and monitor patients undergoing nuclear medicine stress testing to assess heart function, including the preparation and management of radiopharmaceuticals and ensuring accurate imaging results Perform treadmill exercise stress tests to assess cardiovascular health, monitor vital signs, and identify potential heart conditions, including ischemia and arrhythmias Conduct echocardiogram stress tests to assess cardiac performance under stress, providing high quality images and data for cardiologists analysis Review lab work, EKGs, and other relevant patient data to determine whether the patient is a suitable candidate for stress testing Assist in the administration of dobutamine during stress echocardiography to evaluate heart’s function and detect areas of abnormalities Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field of study Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations Current BLS- Basic Life Skills Certification ACLS certification required Must have Cardiac Stress Tech certification or take/pass the CCT exam within 180 days of hire Skills and Abilities Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic testing procedures Proficiency in the operation of nuclear medicine, exercise stress testing, echo stress testing Ability to assess and monitor patients throughout the testing process, responding appropriately to emergencies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide clear instructions and maintain patient comfort and safety Ability to work well in fast paced and dynamic team environment Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships The Cardiac Stress Technician will have close working relationships with many departments throughout the hospital Physical Capabilities Work frequently requires walking, standing, talking, hearing, listening, use of indoor and outdoor workout equipment, including but not limited to: treadmills, cycles, strength training circuit and audiovisual equipment. Must be able to work long hours that include weekends Environmental/Working Conditions This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures.
