Job Title: Early Childhood Music Teacher 


Supervisor: Director of the Early Childhood Department 


Status: Part-Time 


Compensation: $40-55/hr Teachers are paid hourly, commensurate 


About Us:  


The Early Childhood Program—instituted in the early 1960s—offers an extensive selection of courses for introducing small groups of young children and their families to the joys of music and art. By engaging in developmentally appropriate group music experiences (listening, singing, moving, playing percussion instruments, responding to, and creating music), students build the foundation for a comprehensive music education and acquire the tools to express themselves artistically. Key to the Diller-Quaile approach is the collaboration among teachers and students, which creates a unique child-centered musical environment within each class session. 


About the Role: 


As our Early Childhood Music Teacher, you will: 


  • Lead and/or assist the class  
  • Create and sustain an educational and nurturing environment which fosters the development of musicianship in every student and supports the pursuit of artistry. 
  • Develop and write short and long-term, developmentally appropriate class plans, which evolve from the school’s mission, curriculum, and progressive music/art objectives. Submit Program. 
  • Foster and nurture group cohesion; working effectively with parents/adults & teaching teams. 
  • Act as a liaison between the school and class participants. 


Qualifications: 


  • BM, BA, BFA, MA, or MM in Music or Music Education  
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and learning principles. 
  • Proficiency in singing. Other instruments are a plus. 
  • Ability to create and adapt musical activities to suit different age groups and abilities. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine love for working with children.
