Laboratory Technician 2 At Western State Hospital, our patients rely on timely, accurate lab results as part of their treatment and recovery. As a Laboratory Technician 2, your work will support safe, informed care for individuals receiving inpatient mental health and psychiatric services. In this role, you will provide phlebotomy services, collect and process specimens, and perform a variety of laboratory tests. You'll work with patients who may be experiencing complex health needs and collaborate with clinical staff to ensure results are clear, complete, and delivered on time. Alongside your testing responsibilities, you'll maintain equipment, troubleshoot minor issues, and support day-to-day lab operations. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.   Some of what you will do * Perform venipuncture and other procedures to collect specimens from patients. * Process, label, and track specimens in accordance with lab protocols. * Conduct a wide variety of clinical laboratory tests and enter results into the correct systems. * Review and verify testing results before release. * Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment. * Restock reagents and monitor supply inventory. * Report critical or abnormal results to appropriate clinical staff. * Perform quality control procedures, including reagent checks and validation testing. * Participate in required trainings and ensure current lab procedures reflect active practice. Who should apply? Those with a current Medical Assistant - Phlebotomy certificate and at least 6 months of phlebotomy experience. And one of the following: Two or more years of experience performing laboratory testing and specimen processing in either a clinical or research laboratory setting. OR An associate's degree from a Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program including courses in chemistry and biology.
