Job Summary

The Driver is responsible for transporting plants from and to various locations at Growers Transplanting Inc. safely and according to State, Federal and company regulations that govern the safe operation of equipment over public roads.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Safely load and unload truck with pallets and bins.
  • Safely drive and deliver plants at all assigned locations.
  • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns.
  • Update logbooks up to date in compliance with DOT requirement.
  • Maintains shipping bills of lading and other required paperwork; delivers documentation to shipping office or other appropriate staff when delivery route is complete.
  • Comply with all State, Federal & company procedures & laws regulating the operation of equipment.
  • Performs all duties in accordance with environmental, food safety, safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • The compensation range for this role is determined by factors such as location and required skills. The salary range provided reflects the lowest to highest amount we reasonably anticipate paying for this position at the time of posting. Compensation is influenced by labor market conditions and various factors, including but not limited to: the prevailing minimum wage in the area, relevant education, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue targets, and business needs. It is not typical for a new hire to be offered the highest end of the salary range. Pay decisions are made based on the unique circumstances of each candidate and position.

Compensation: $22.00-$24.00

Requirements

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of Class A driving experience.
  • Valid Class A California license with good DMV driving record.
  • Able to comply with DOT/FMCSA requirements (e.g. medical certification)
  • Must pass background and drug testing as required by federal and/or state department(s) of transportation regulations.
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish preferred, but not required.
  • Other Requirements You must be in good physical shape, able to work 60 hours a week in the peak season and be able to report to work as early as 2:00am.
  • Drivers must be able to move up to 50 lbs. and perform vigorous physical activity for sustained periods of time. Lifting, pushing, bending, stretching, stooping is all part of the loading and unloading process.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to speak professionally and courteously with customers and staff at delivery points.
  • Ability to remain focused in busy environment.

Physical Requirement Addendum

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform infrequent/long periods of sitting, standing, stooping, bending, walking, grasping, climbing, pulling, pushing, and carrying of objects up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance and color vision.
