Teal Drones is seeking a highly skilled Document Control & Configuration Manager to lead product lifecycle documentation, BOM structure management, and configuration processes while ensuring compliance with AS9100, DoD requirements, and industry best practices.
This role will oversee Arena PLM administration, drive change control processes, and act as a strategic leader in PLM and configuration management across engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality teams. Key Responsibilities
Document Control & Configuration Management
- Oversee product lifecycle documentation management using Arena PLM, ensuring accurate version control, traceability, and accessibility.
- Manage BOMs, technical drawings, and specifications, ensuring alignment with customer configurations, DoD requirements, and compliance standards.
- Implement and enforce configuration management standards (EIA-649, EIA-649-1) to maintain structured product lifecycle processes.
- Lead Engineering Change Control (ECR/ECO) processes, ensuring structured reviews and approvals within Arena PLM, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Facilitate Change Control Board (CCB) meetings, documenting decisions and driving action plans to ensure timely execution of changes.
- Act as the liaison with government agency customers, ensuring alignment with JCCB (Joint Configuration Control Board) best practices and participating in Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs).
- Ensure ITAR and controlled data compliance, collaborating with security teams to maintain proper access controls in Arena PLM.
Training & Process Development
- Develop and deliver training materials, guides, and SOPs on configuration management, document control, and Arena PLM best practices.
- Conduct cross-functional training sessions for Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams on document control workflows and compliance requirements.
- Continuously refine documentation standards and change management workflows based on DoD regulations, AS9100, and company needs.
PLM & Change Management Leadership
- Manage and optimize Arena PLM workflows, ensuring seamless product data management, QMS integration, and traceability.
- Lead change management initiatives, ensuring stakeholders understand and follow structured change processes across Arena PLM, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics.
- Drive adoption of best practices for managing engineering documentation and lifecycle processes across Teal Drones and external government customers.
- Partner with IT and system administrators on Arena PLM integrations and access controls.
- Establish KPIs for document control and change management, tracking process efficiency, compliance adherence, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Skills
- 7+ years of experience in document control, configuration management, or PLM administration within an aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Arena PLM, including workflow administration, BOM management, change control, and QMS modules.
- Strong background in BOM structuring, engineering change processes, and document revision control.
- Experience working with SAP ERP and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, particularly in PLM-ERP integration workflows.
- Proficiency in EIA-649 configuration management principles and knowledge of ITAR-controlled data processes.
- Expertise in ISO 9001, AS9100, and DoD supplier compliance requirements.
- Ability to develop and deliver training programs related to document control, configuration management, and compliance workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Self-starter mindset, accountable, and capable of working independently while fostering collaboration across departments.
- Experience with Altium, SolidWorks, and Silicon Experts integration with Arena PLM.
- Experience working with government agencies and DoD customers in JCCB meetings and Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) would be a plus.
- Background in data governance and controlled document compliance.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent use of hands, fingers, and fine motor skills for typing and handling documents.
- Occasional walking, standing, bending, and reaching during filing or training activities.
- Ability to travel as needed for training, audits, or collaboration with external stakeholders.
