Position Summary

Mid-Del Tech Center’s Tinker Technology Center is located on Tinker Air Force Base and provides training to civilians and military personnel. The Director oversees all aspects of this campus from working closely with TAFB personnel, hiring staff, managing the contract MDTC has with the DOD (Dept. of Defense), obtaining equipment, supplies and curriculum, developing courses, and providing leadership to Tinker Tech staff. The position works on a 247-day contract (12 mos). Occasional weekend or evening work is required.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience working for the Department of Defense or with military contracts or related positions is preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience in a supervisor role is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in Technical Training and training administration within the last three years per PWC.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, networking, and communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance and related technical skills is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of or familiarity with DOD and TAFB policies and procedures is preferred.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Must be able to pass required clearance for TAFB/DOD.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee and provide leadership to the bidding and negotiation of the contract between MDTC and the DOD (Dept. of Defense).
  • Plan, organize and implement training programs to meet the specific needs of TAFB as outlined in the DOD contract. Execute and implement contract provisions.
  • Responsible for and oversees the Tinker Tech budget. This includes supervision of all expenses, acquisitions, and staff payroll.
  • Recruit, hire, train and evaluate Tinker Tech staff and adjunct instructors.
  • Understand and provide leadership to Tinker Tech Staff on policies and procedures for Mid-Del Schools and TAFB. Including but not limited to staff and student training records, electronic billing of TAFB for training courses submitted and collections according to contract stipulations.
  • Build lasting relationships with TAFB administration and training department personnel. Be forward thinking on training opportunities. Work closely with the Contract Officer Representative (COR) to ensure contract compliance, address evolving needs and manage contract execution effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with the MDTC Superintendent regarding all aspects of Tinker Tech in addition to working with MDTC’s Director of Workforce Development on TAFB training needs.
  • Oversee the development of customized training and curriculum development, which includes obtaining materials, supplies and equipment to ensure proper delivery of each training course. Manage and resolve training concerts or issues with staff or students that occur.
  • Responsible for the duties for all operations of the Tinker Tech facilities including but not limited to when they are off-site and/or the workflow and operations of Tinker Tech in the absence of staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fume or airborne particles. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment will vary from somewhat loud to extremely loud.

To ensure continuity of services, a different work location may be necessary in the event of a health crisis or disruptive situation that requires the closing of school and/or office buildings. An employee’s eligibility for a varied work location will be determined by the superintendent of schools. Expectations and guidelines for this change will be distributed by the employee’s supervisor, based on his/her role and responsibilities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Employee may occasionally be required to supervise a varying number of employees in the overall direction, coordination, and completion of tasks as assigned.
