Job Description

We are hiring a passionate Director of Wellness Programming (Activities) - Memory Care for our beautiful Montera community in La Mesa, CA!

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday (8:30am -5pm)

Job Summary

The responsibility of the Director of Wellness Programming, memory care, is to plan, prepare, direct and conduct resident and family engagement along with overseeing mind+body wellness programming in accordance with current federal, state, and local guidelines, standards, and regulations, along with MBK’s established policies and procedures.

This position is also responsible for ensuring the program of activities, events and engagements are designed to meet the interests, lifestyle, and preferences and meet physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being needs of each resident. This role helps support our pursuit to be the senior living provider of choice in every market we serve by delivering wellness programming focusing on resident and family wellbeing.

Essential Job Duties: Create, implement and lead resident programs according to MBK mind+body wellness program standards and resident preferences

  • Complete social profiles / lifestyle survey interviews for each resident
  • Maintain engagement platform (eCMS) with program and event schedules, announcements, bulletins, resources and photos
  • Ensure registration of all resident representatives with credentials for eCMS
  • Develop a daily flow for programming that addresses individual needs and interests while en couraging shared interest pursuits and a sense of community
  • Maintain an inventory of highly usable and accessible supplies for all team members to use for on-demand and individual or off-time engagements
  • Maintain resident lifestyle surveys to reflect ongoing development of interests and pursuits
  • Train community team members in implementing relationship-based programming and in us ing MBK signature mind+body wellness for memory care technologies and approaches
  • Create and maintain social media under the umbrella of MBK’s Home Office
  • Facilitate resident and family activity planning committee
  • Facilitate family council as desired by resident loved ones
  • Oversee implementation of MBK Together wellness education programming
  • Provide public/community education in dementia topics
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure interdisciplinary implementation of wellness programming, events and education programs.
  • Track resident engagement and participate on interdisciplinary service plan team to ensure updates and interventions according to resident needs and interests in wellness programming

Overseeing Transportation Of Residents Including

  • Assist with the safe loading, unloading, seating, and transporting of residents onto and off community vehicles and drive residents as needed
  • Oversee scheduling of transportation for recreational and medical outings
  • Evaluate transportation program on a regular basis to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Understand and fulfill all State, Federal and local regulations for maintaining safe vehicles, securing all required credentials/licensing for vehicle(s) a driver(s)

Company Policies, Procedures, And Core Values

  • Supervise wellness program coordinator and/or activity assistants
  • Develop and train volunteers who are in the community to assist with activities or special events
  • Arrange for outside vendors to conduct programs and process invoices promptly
  • Manage and track budget spending and goals
  • Encourage and invite resident participation in all resident activities
  • Work with director of health services to ensure caregiver involvement in programs
  • Facilitate and conduct resident programs within connections for living if applicable
  • Aid in the community marketing efforts through positive interactions with residents, families, and guests
  • Alert care staff when there is a medical or care need of a resident
  • Ensure resident information such as traditions and preferences are collected per policy

Non-Essential Job Duties

  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned/directed by the Executive Director
  • Obtain and maintain all state required certifications and licensure
  • Meet with prospective residents to review the enrichment programs and offerings at the community

Knowledge & Skills

  • Certification in Recreational Activity Leadership: APNCC / NAAPCC Certification or similar
  • AA or certification in gerontology, recreational therapy or similar highly desirable
  • Prior related work experience, in a similar environment supporting programming for people with dementia required
  • Working familiarity with several special Microsoft Office Suite software programs (e.g. Publisher and Photoshop) is highly desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree in recreational therapy, gerontology, music, art or similar is preferable

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Training or education in dementia care
  • Completion of, or ability to obtain State approved Activity Director Certification
  • Must be over the age 18
  • Background clearance is required (per government regulations)
  • Negative TB test results is mandatory
  • Excellent communication skills are required including the ability to speak, write and read English
  • Must have solid pc skills and be familiar with several Microsoft Office Suite software programs (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Email, etc.), and other office equipment (e.g. scanners, copiers, and fax machines)
  • Must maintain a professional demeanor at all times, especially while interfacing with other Team Members, residents, family members, and visitors
  • Must present a positive image, by follow all grooming and dress standards
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license (required by the state and/or vehicle capacity) and valid insurance

Physical Demands

  • Must be mobile and able to perform the physical requirements of the job, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling and repetitive motion
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time
  • Able to move intermittently throughout the work day and between community
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. and push

Pay: $24 - $26/hr
