Our client's business focus is contract manufacturing in metal additive components. They have created a new role for a Director of Business Development. The Director of Business Development will manage in collaboration with VP of Business Development; all aspects of customer engagements & relationships plus sales and business development focused on defense classified and related programs. They will follow and optimize the processes for opportunity review and bidding, generating proposals, negotiating contracts, and provide clear flow down of customer requirements to the cross functional teams for product realization.
The Director of Business Development is a senior management team member of the Client. This position reports to the VP of Business Development and works closely with all levels of Company management.
• Provide strategic business development support to achieve established revenue goals and targets
• Work closely with operations and senior team on production planning to ensure it is in balance with needs of customers
• Support development, implementation, and maintenance of effective business development strategies and policies
• Develop and manage relationships with customers, external partners and stakeholders, including, our client's partners
• Attend appropriate conference and represent our client along with affiliates as applicable, representing our client and networking with appropriate customers and partners
• Developing and tracking performance metrics, to support creation of presentations and timely sales results to the Board of Directors
• Support development of policies and procedures to ensure pricing activities run smoothly and have the appropriate controls in place
• Collaborate with client's companies on business operations and future initiatives to ensure they align with our client's future vision
• Other duties / special projects, etc. as assigned by manager
Requirements
• Understands defense programs, DOD and primes – has already established relationships with primes and preferably DOD
• Works hands on and collaboratively with teams across the organization, globally and cross culturally with English-as-a-second-language partners

• Ability to manage difficult relationships and resolve interpersonal issues

• US Citizenship is mandatory
• Eligibility for Secret level security clearance is mandatory
Education/Experience Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Aerospace, Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing) or related field required with an MBA is a plus
• Understanding and experience in Additive Manufacturing, specifically LPBF is preferred
• Demonstrated experience in interpersonal issues in cross cultured environment and complex problem-solving working with leadership and broader organization
• 10 years of business development experience in defense, especially classified programs or similar programs
• Proven experience in implementing the necessary sales and business development processes for government (defense) contracts
• Experience in risk management and compliance
• Ideally experienced in working in global, multi-cultural environment
Projected Base Compensation: $175,000 to $200,000 DOE plus commissions
