Summary

General Function

Reporting to the President, the Director of Business Development & Sales is responsible for identifying, pursuing, and securing new customer opportunities within the metal stamping, roll forming, welding, and machining solutions sectors. This role is focused on generating new business relationships and growing our customer base. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the industry, a strategic approach to sales, and a strong track record of successfully developing new client partnerships.


Job Duties

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to identify and win new business opportunities in target markets.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including estimating, engineering, and operations, to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and present detailed proposals, quotes, and presentations clearly articulating Ice Industries’ capabilities and value proposition.
  • Participate in industry trade shows, networking events, and business development activities to build brand awareness and generate leads.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activities, pipeline updates, and forecasts using CRM tools.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, customer needs, and competitive activity to refine the sales approach continuously.
  • Oversee and lead the quoting process and engineering team to ensure efficient and accurate project estimations and optimal team performance.
  • Proactively assess and validate customer needs on an ongoing basis. Act as our products’ human dimension, delivering expertise and guidance to our customers.
  • Prepare and present proposals and negotiate quotations and contract proposals with existing customers, explaining all details, including methodologies, capacities, quality assurances, and proposal cost parameters.
  • Update and maintain relevant documentation, including quotes, customer price breakdown forms, cost sheets, price information, quality scorecards, and commercial pricing strategies.
  • Manage and negotiate long-term agreements with key customers that secure the base business and drive additional growth opportunities.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the organization.


Working Conditions

  • Office environment with occasional exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature
  • Must sit and view a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for operating office equipment (e.g., computer, calculator).
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk, and stand for extended periods.
  • Must lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and climb (stairs).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be flexible and able to change schedule and work hours to meet the organization's needs, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing to travel, including international travel


Required Experience, Skills, and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree with ten years of proven experience in a business development or sales role in a metal stamping manufacturing environment.
  • Existing relationships or networks within key industries such as solar, appliance, or commercial manufacturing.
  • Experience working in or supporting medium-to-large manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with cost estimating and quoting processes for custom metal fabrication projects.
  • Ability to manage many assignments simultaneously with solid project management, organization, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Understand PPAP or First Article Inspection and validation processes
  • Understand the APQP and technical feasibility review and process
  • Superior leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at multiple levels to work cross-organizationally toward solutions
  • The candidate must be computer literate and proficient with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, and e-mail communication).
  • Ability to work with and communicate (verbal and written) effectively with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
