We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Project Management (PMO) to join our team and lead the buildout of ampliFI’s Project Management Office. This is a hybrid remote role with an office located in Naperville, IL 60563.

What You Will Do

As the Director of PMO (IT) at ampliFI, you will lead the creation and development of a formal project management function while actively managing key projects across the organization. You will define and implement standards, processes, and tools that enable consistent, high-quality project delivery and business alignment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring the ability to set the strategy while also rolling up your sleeves to lead project execution and support team growth.

How You Will Contribute

  • Lead the strategy, structure, and development of a scalable Project Management Office
  • Establish and continuously improve project delivery standards, templates, and governance practices
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting processes to track project health and delivery outcomes
  • Actively manage cross-functional projects as needed while the PMO team scales
  • Work closely with executive leadership to align project prioritization with business goals
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and oversight to project managers across IT and business initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from Product, Technology, Operations, and Client Delivery to ensure delivery excellence
  • Implement consistent project intake, resource planning, and risk management practices
  • Facilitate cross-functional coordination and remove blockers to project success
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex or at-risk projects, providing resolution and direction
  • Support the hiring, onboarding, and development of additional project management resources as the team expands
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and results in project execution

The Expertise You Bring

  • 6+ years of experience in project or program management roles with increasing responsibility
  • 3+ years of leadership experience, including managing or mentoring other project managers
  • Proven experience standing up or leading a PMO function in a growing or scaling organization
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, hybrid models)
  • Demonstrated success delivering complex, cross-functional projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to think strategically while also managing day-to-day execution
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including executive-level reporting
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, or Smartsheet
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a disciplined approach to planning and risk management

Additional (Bonus) Skills

  • PMP or other project management certifications are a plus
  • Experience building project management practices within a technology or product-driven organization
  • Experience in financial services, banking, or loyalty/rewards programs is a plus
  • Background in change management or process improvement is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently required to sit and stand.
  • Required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Visual acuity and manual dexterity required to manage projects and use software and a laptop computer.

The compensation range listed below represents the potential salary for this role at the time of posting. However, the final salary may be higher or lower than the stated range, and this range may be adjusted in the future. An employee’s placement within the salary range will depend on various factors, including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the needs of the business or organization. The salary range for this role is $135,000 - $150,000/year.
