The Thriveology Director will be responsible for delivering Camp Fire Heartland’s Conflict Resolution program to young people within two local juvenile detention centers. Camp Fire Heartland revised its traditional Conflict Resolution program to serve young people who have experienced a high number of barriers, challenges, and ACEs. Programs will also be provided to young people leaving detention in local community centers throughout Kansas City. Camp Fire’s Conflict Resolution program is unique because it focuses on preventing or dealing with conflict before it happens and/or escalates and teaches self-regulation and communication. This is a brand-new program and requires flexibility, innovation, and a strong commitment to the work. This position requires approximately 60% of work hours to be spent working with young people and 40% at the office. This position also requires robust data tracking, system building, and program planning.
In addition, this person will work in our Afterschool program to support children with high behaviors. This includes working with the school and the parents to create a behavior plan and to provide small group support to children who would benefit from smaller group sessions.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Promote an environment, at all times, that is trauma-informed, both for staff and service recipients.
· Ensure high quality programming of the Conflict Resolution lessons.
· Keep team informed of program policies and performance expectations through communication means such as staff meetings, individual supervisory meetings, and written documents.
· Use required evaluation tools to measure and track program impact (outputs and outcomes) and generate reports that measure data for participants, families, volunteers, and partner organizations.
· Ensure all required reports are submitted accurately and within the required time frame.
· Responsible for procuring program supplies and materials in accordance with program budgets and financial policies.
· Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion.
· Represent the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.
· Communicates regularly and professionally with partner organizations.
· Maintain consistent attendance and is punctual.
· Ability to travel between sites.
· Perform all other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· Master’s degree required with emphasis in therapy, counseling, or another mental health field.
· At least two years’ experience working with young people.
· Commitment to working with young people and providing the highest quality services possible.
· Knowledge of program and human resources management in a non-profit organization preferred.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Ability to work with a diverse population.
· Ability to work independently and in an extremely fast-paced environment.
· Valid Drivers license
· Pass extensive background check.
