Your new role
- Reporting directly to the Vice-President for Business, the Director of Procurement will provide strategic leadership for the centralised procurement and purchasing operations.
- Developing and implementing procurement strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with institutional goals.
- Ensuring compliance with internal regulations and external procurement standards.
- Managing large-scale procurement activities exceeding all categories, professional service, IT, legal, and project-based expenditures.
- Collaborating with internal departments, subsidiaries, and public sector bodies.
- Leading vendor management and maintaining external relationships with key stakeholders, including government entities.
- Participating in all-level committees and contributing to institutional governance.
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies to optimise cost, quality, and delivery. Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements across procurement categories.
- Understanding of compliance, public procurement regulations, and institutional governance.
- Manage complex procurement portfolios and lead cross-functional teams.
- Drive digital transformation in procurement processes (e.g., e-procurement systems). Champion automation and system enhancements to improve efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, public procurement laws, and audit requirements.
What you'll need to succeed
- A Bachelor's degree in Procurement, Business Administration, or a related field; a higher degree is preferred.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies for category management, including e-procurement, understanding of compliance, public procurement regulations, and institutional governance.
- Lead and mentor a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with a public sector or quasi-governmental organisation is advantageous.
