Summary

1) Position Objective

As Director of Media Relations, you will lead the charge in transforming traditional research dissemination into dynamic media engagements. You will bridge the gap between groundbreaking academic discoveries and the stakeholders who can implement them for real-world impact. Through strategic media initiatives — including podcasts, video documentaries, television programs, and live storytelling — you will ensure research findings are not confined to journals but actively shape national and global development.


2) Responsibilities


2.1) Media Strategy and Campaign Development

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive media engagement strategy aligned with the journal's mission.
  • Design and oversee multimedia campaigns to publicize newly published research findings.


2.2) Researcher Engagement and Storytelling

  • Identify high-impact research papers and work closely with authors to transform them into accessible, engaging media formats (podcasts, video documentaries, campus interviews).
  • Organize and lead Research Storytelling Sessions and Live Exchange Initiatives on university campuses and research centers.


2.3) Television Program Management

  • Plan, produce, and oversee the Research Hour Television Program.
  • Coordinate author appearances, stakeholder panels, and expert interviews.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure professional, impactful broadcasting.


2.4) Media Production Oversight

  • Supervise the creation of all media content: podcasts, short films, video documentaries, animated explainers, and live broadcasts.
  • Approve scripts, edit storylines, and maintain editorial excellence and scientific accuracy.


2.5) Stakeholder and Audience Engagement

  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders (government agencies, NGOs, private sector leaders, academia) to expand the reach and application of research findings.
  • Organize conferences and stakeholder roundtables.


2.6) Public Relations and Brand Visibility

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for the journal’s media initiatives when required.
  • Craft press releases, op-eds, and announcements to ensure media coverage across traditional and digital outlets.
  • Build The Academic Times Journal into a recognized brand synonymous with impactful, accessible research.


2.7) Performance Monitoring and Reporting

  • Track engagement metrics (audience reach, downloads, views, media mentions) and prepare monthly performance reports.
  • Continuously refine media strategies based on analytics and audience feedback.


3) Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field (Ph.D. holders with media experience are highly welcome).


  • Strong understanding of academic publishing and research communication.


  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.


  • Exceptional public speaking and interpersonal skills.


  • Ability to engage with researchers, policymakers, and public audiences confidently.


  • Knowledge of digital marketing and audience growth strategies is an added advantage.


4) Remuneration

  • Monthly salary: Negotiable based on experience and value demonstrated.
