Job Purpose
Fulbright University Vietnam recognizes that the continued development of our communications and marketing capacity is essential to our future and to achievement of many mission-critical goals such as student enrollment and development (fundraising). Fulbright’s Board of Trustees and senior leadership decided to reorganize and strengthen the university’s communications and marketing team to increase Fulbright University Vietnam’s visibility within Vietnam’s crowded and competitive higher education landscape, build awareness of the university’s mission, programs, and priorities, and enhance the university’s digital presence including its website and social media presence.

Roles and Responsibilities
The Director of MKT and Communication reports directly to the President and, as a member of the university’s senior management team, works collegially with the other members of that team.
The position’s primary responsibilities include but is not limited to:
- In collaboration with the university leadership, design, implement, and measure the effectiveness of an integrated communications and marketing strategy aimed at elevating Fulbright University Vietnam’s visibility and reputation among important external constituencies including, but not limited to, prospective students and their families, employers, prospective donors, international academic partners, influencers, and job-seekers.
- Integrate marketing—especially in the digital space—with admissions in order to expand the pool of academically qualified applicants to Fulbright’s flagship undergraduate program in engineering and the liberal arts and sciences.
- Strengthen Fulbright’s ability to translate the university’s vision, aspirations, distinctive features, and strengths (including its exceptional people) into messages, stories, and other types of content that are authentic, compelling, and resonate with the intended audience.
- Lead the continued reorganization and strengthening of the university’s communications and marketing department, with a broad mandate that includes content creation, digital engagement, website development, event organization, media relations, social media, and crisis communications. The position will lead, mentor, and train the university’s communications and marketing team, instilling a dynamic, fast-moving, and creative professional culture in which all team members are empowered to think “outside the box” and where new ideas and innovations originating at all levels are encouraged.
- In consultation with key internal stakeholders, design and implement a strategy for the continued development of Fulbright’s website and social media presence with a special emphasis on optimizing for mobile platforms. Transform Fulbright’s digital content creation capabilities in order to engage more effectively with key audiences such as prospective students and their families.
- Build close, mutually supportive relations with units and teams across the university to ensure that the university’s communications and marketing strategies and tactics advance institutional goals. Of particular importance are collaborative relations with Fulbright’s flagship academic programs (the undergraduate program in engineering and the liberal arts and sciences and the Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management), undergraduate admissions and financial aid, and development (fundraising).
- Serve as the steward of all aspects of Fulbright University Vietnam’s brand and brand identity and promote and consistent deployment of the Fulbright brand across the university.
- Design and implement a proactive media relations strategy that elevates the university’s visibility and reputation in Vietnam and abroad.
- Advise the President and other members of the university leadership on matters related to external communications including media relations and crisis communications.
- Serve on and staff the Communications and Marketing Committee of the Board of Trustees.
- Conduct attitudinal research to analyse the university’s reputation positioning within the local and international landscape.
- Evaluate, refine and develop collaborative process, structures, staffing and resources required to implement communications, and marketing strategies and provide effective guidance for implementation across the university.
- Manage the marketing budget/: ensuring appropriate marketing investment level based on university objectives; continuously improving effective and the ROI of marketing investments.
- Serve as a spokesperson for the university when appropriate.

- Contributing to team effort by welcoming new and different work requirements; exploring new opportunities to enhance the services of the department; helping others accomplish related job results as and where needed.
- Other tasks and responsibilities assigned to the Employee by the Company which may be adjusted from time to time.
What we look for
Education:
- Bachelor degree in economics, humanities, science or equivalent
- Master degree is preferred
Employment/Professional Experience:
- An experienced communications and marketing professional with a track record of success in designing and implementing strategic marketing campaigns at complex organizations with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Proven success in building, managing, and motivating high-performing teams of creative people. Ability to work effectively with colleagues across a range of departments in a large and growing organization.
- At least 10 years of experience in a senior leadership role, managing a diverse team.
- At least 5 years of experience in marketing or marketing related activities and/or a similar level of experience in university admissions and recruitment.
Competencies - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- A sophisticated understanding of Vietnam’s higher education landscape.
- Exceptional oral and written communication and storytelling skills.
- Strong knowledge and experience base in the area of digital communications and marketing including content development, social media, and market research techniques.
- Ability to delegate effectively and oversee a broad portfolio of responsibilities and projects at the same time. Ability to produce high quality work under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively with outside partners and agencies.
Other details: This is a full-time position based in Ho Chi Minh City. Occasional travel within Vietnam and abroad is required.
