Summary

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Director of Internal Controls to establish, lead, and enhance our Internal Controls Department. This individual will be responsible for evaluating our current internal controls framework, strengthening its design, and preparing the organization for eventual SOX compliance. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building internal controls from the ground up, particularly in organizations transitioning from private to public. They will also play a key role in change management, ensuring that internal teams adopt a culture of controls through training, communication, and project management. Key Responsibilities * Internal Controls Strategy & Execution * Assess the current internal controls framework and develop a comprehensive roadmap for enhancement. * Establish and implement policies, procedures, and governance structures to support a robust internal control environment. * Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, including readiness for SOX compliance. * Training & Change Management * Develop and lead training programs to educate internal teams on internal controls, risk management, and compliance requirements. * Drive a cultural shift towards an internal control mindset across the organization. * Serve as a key communicator and advocate for internal controls at all levels of the business. * Project Management & Execution * Oversee the project management of internal controls implementation, ensuring alignment with company objectives. * Work cross-functionally with finance, IT, legal, and other departments to embed control processes. * Identify and mitigate risks through proactive control measures and process improvements. * Compliance Readiness & IPO Preparation * Guide the organization through SOX compliance and ensure audit readiness. * Implement scalable internal controls that support a transition from a private company to a publicly traded entity. * Partner with external auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and best practices. Qualifications & Experience * 10+ years of experience in internal controls, risk management, or compliance, with a focus on building frameworks from the ground up. * Deep expertise in SOX compliance, risk assessment, and control design in a scaling organization. * Experience leading internal controls in a company preparing for an IPO is highly preferred. * Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive change management and influence cross-functional teams. * Exceptional project management skills with a track record of executing large-scale internal control initiatives. * Excellent communication, training, and stakeholder engagement abilities. * CPA, CIA, CISA, or other relevant certifications preferred. #LI-AB1 Why Join Us?
