DIRECTOR OF FUTURE READY PROGRAM

Position Summary
The Norwalk Public Schools District seeks an innovative and dedicated leader to oversee the combined operations of the Twilight Academy and the Norwalk Alternative Opportunity Program (NAOP). This role involves managing two integrated educational programs with unique schedules, including full-day and modified options, tailored to support students with non-traditional needs such as work commitments, childcare, or academic recovery. The coordinator will ensure that both programs meet their mission to re-engage students and provide pathways to graduation and career readiness.
The director will also collaborate with shared service providers and district leadership to maintain program quality, foster staff professional growth, and deliver exceptional educational experiences that align with the district’s Future Ready Program goals.
Key Responsibilities
Program Oversight
- Supervise and evaluate all teaching staff, counselors, and support personnel across the Twilight Academy and NAOP.
- Oversee both the full-day schedule (11:00 AM – 6:30 PM) and the modified schedule (3:00 PM – 6:30 PM) to accommodate students with work commitments.
- Ensure seamless coordination of shared services, including SEL support, childcare, and transportation.
- Manage the integration of project-based learning (PBL) and hybrid instruction formats within both programs.
Student Engagement and Achievement
- Monitor and evaluate student progress, attendance, and outcomes to ensure alignment with graduation and post-secondary readiness goals.
- Develop and implement personalized learning plans and intervention strategies for students, particularly those in credit recovery or career preparation tracks.
- Provide oversight of the infant care center to support student-parents in maintaining program participation.
- Collaborate with counselors and SEL staff to design and deliver social-emotional support programs tailored to student needs.
Staff Development and Leadership
- Lead staff training sessions focused on mastery-based assessments, PBL, and engaging multi-lingual learners.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and professional growth among program staff, ensuring alignment with district goals and best practices.
- Facilitate regular team meetings and professional development workshops to address program improvements and staff needs.
Operational Management
- Oversee scheduling for staff and students, ensuring efficient use of resources for both full-day and modified schedules.
- Manage data collection and analysis related to student performance, attendance, and program effectiveness.
- Provide regular reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Digital Learning and Innovation, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with district leadership to assess the viability of the Virtual Academy for potential reimplementation in the 2026-27 school year.
Community and Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary liaison between the district, students, families, and community partners.
- Promote the programs’ mission and achievements through community events, parent meetings, and partnerships with local organizations.
- Ensure clear communication and engagement with stakeholders to support program goals and individual student success.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Active Connecticut Supervision (092) Certification and teaching certification.
Master’s degree in education, Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in educational leadership and program management.
Expertise in social-emotional learning (SEL) and student success planning.
Demonstrated ability to implement progress monitoring and intervention strategies.
In-depth knowledge of curriculum design, mastery-based learning, and assessment practices aligned with the Connecticut Core Standards.
Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse school district.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing programs with hybrid or non-traditional schedules.
- Familiarity with project-based learning and career readiness initiatives.
- Background in working with under-credited and over-aged students.
WORK SCHEDULE & EXPECTATIONS
- Full-time, overseeing operations during program hours: 11:00 AM to 6:30 PM for full-day schedules and 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM for modified schedules.
- Availability for Friday virtual activities, including staff professional development, data review, and student check-ins.
- Participation in district leadership meetings and community engagement events as needed.
This position is critical in shaping the educational opportunities for students requiring non-traditional schedules. The Director will play a pivotal role in fostering student success, professional excellence, and community collaboration within the Norwalk Public Schools Future Ready Program.
Days: Monday – Friday, 12-months
Salary: In line with the NASA Contract
