The Director of Finance will serve as a key member of the finance leadership team for Populus Financial Group. This role supports all business lines with budgeting, forecasting, product profitability analysis, marketing investment analysis, new product evaluation, financial reporting, and investor presentations.


Major Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, forecasting and analysis functions for all business lines at Populus.
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, including 10-Qs, 10-K, 8-Ks filings, and management reports as required by Private Equity Investor.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed long-range strategic planning models.
  • Prepares various monthly and quarterly reports and analysis for the board of directors, banks, and investors.
  • Provide financial modeling, financial analysis and valuation support for acquisitions, partnerships, new product development, pricing, long-term contracts and other ad-hoc financial projects.
  • Collaborate with senior management to improve systems and processes for detailed reporting, visibility, and metrics for daily operations and financial reporting.
  • Drive the planning, analysis, coordination, and consolidation of annual corporate budget and rolling forecasts, including statement of operations, balance sheet, cash flow, and lender covenants.
  • Analyze budget and forecast variances, working with CFO, VP Finance, VP Accounting, and department leaders to identify key fluctuations in revenues, expenses, and financial metrics.
  • Prepare reporting, analysis, commentary, and presentation material for monthly and quarterly financial
  • Serve as a business partner to operations, product teams, marketing, and management teams.
  • Work on special projects and ad hoc reporting as assigned by CFO, CEO, and other members of the management team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; MBA, CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) designation preferred.
  • 9+ years’ experience in financial planning and analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI and Essbase, with experience in SQL, SAS, JD Edwards preferred.
  • Advanced experience working with corporate budgeting process and complex financial models required.
  • Excellent customer relations skills and ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership skills with 4+ years’ progressive leadership.
  • Experience in multi-unit retail/restaurant concepts preferred.
  • Experience in capital markets and/or M&A activity preferred.
  • Organized with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. This position might require after hours and weekend work.
