Summary

A leading global Tier-1 automotive supplier is seeking a strategic and technically adept Director of Engineering to lead the Lighting engineering organisation across the Americas region. This executive role is pivotal in driving innovation, program execution, and technical excellence for a multi-billion-dollar business serving major automotive OEMs. The Director will oversee cross-functional engineering teams and collaborate closely with global leadership, customers, and operations to ensure product and program success.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all engineering functions (product design, validation, innovation, and program development) within the portfolio for the Americas.
  • Align regional engineering strategy with overall business goals and the CEO’s vision for the business unit.
  • Oversee execution of product development programs from concept to production, ensuring technical excellence and on-time delivery.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing, geographically distributed engineering organization.
  • Collaborate with OEM customers to understand and respond to technical requirements with competitive and innovative solutions.
  • Work cross-functionally with Program Management, Sales, Operations, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure cohesive execution.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant safety, quality, and industry regulations while staying ahead of emerging mobility and electrification trends.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on engineering KPIs, resource management, risk mitigation, and long-term innovation strategy.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in automotive engineering, with significant exposure to lighting technologies.
  • Proven experience leading large, multi-site engineering teams in the Americas.
  • Demonstrated success in product development and program execution within a Tier-1 supplier environment.
  • Strong customer interface skills and ability to lead technical discussions with OEM partners.
  • Background in electronics or mechatronics (e.g., smart lighting, actuated components, sensor systems) is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual capabilities (English and Spanish or Portuguese) are a plus.
