Director Of Electrical Engineering
We are seeking a Director for the Electrical Department for our San Bernardino, California, Office. This person will assume the primary responsibility for marketing, research and development, quality control, and team development and professional growth for the Electrical Department, while providing oversight to Project Managers to ensure timely completion of all electrical projects within budgetary constraints.
We are looking for someone who enjoys working with new clientele, developing business relationships, and investing their time in mentoring the team. We stress customer service and are looking for someone who prides themselves on their ability to interact and communicate with everybody involved.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Project Management
15+ years of overall experience in Electrical Design and Engineering
Must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain client relationships as an ambassador for Design West Engineering
Strong experience with AutoCAD and Revit MEP
Experience in various project types and market sectors
Must demonstrate a passion for mentorship, with the willingness to provide mentorship, leadership, and department oversight in person
Must be willing to participate as an active member in one or more professional organizations
Must demonstrate the ability to successfully manage the efforts of others to achieve stated objectives
Desired Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Director of Electrical for a firm engaged in providing electrical engineering consulting.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California
Experience with complex Electrical systems
Experience with proposal writing and client development
LEED certified professional
Some Job Duties Will Include
Business Development
Consults with Principals to create long-range strategic plans to meet the needs of the organization
Collaborate with the Marketing department to determine business development needs and projections
Continually research new technologies
Develop and maintain master electrical specifications
Develop cohesive electrical drafting standards to be implemented by all electrical teams with Design West Engineering
Project Management
Oversee and distribute the workload efficiently between your assigned project management teams
Review all proposals developed by Project Managers prior to submission to clients
Review all aspects of electrical design for every project, serving as the final authority by redlining necessary corrections and back checking to ensure compliance
Client Development
Engage new clients at industry events to develop new business opportunities
Maintain existing client relationships and improve by continual contact
Team Development/ management
Oversees engineering staff to ensure goals and objectives are met
Provide regular training for your team to ensure professional development is occuring
Perform formal assessments of reporting personnel in accordance with DWE’s policy
Provide in person mentorship, leadership, and oversight by working in office three days per week
Targeted Compensation
$130,000 - $160,000 per year depending on experience
Opportunity for bonus twice per year
