The Organization

The Schizophrenia and Psychosis Action Alliance (S&PAA) is a 501(c)(3) national nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating barriers to treatment, survival, and meaningful recovery for individuals living with schizophrenia and psychosis spectrum disorders. This support can mean the difference between isolation and connection and can help individuals live independently to their fullest potential.

Summary

The Director of Development for Schizophrenia and Psychosis Action Alliance (S&PAA) will plan and implement a development and fundraising program to provide for the short- and long-term needs of the organization. This includes individual giving, major gifts, planned giving and overseeing grants. This position is designed to support the organization's current and near future, while playing a critical role in expanding our efforts. Must be able to travel a minimum of 20%.

Principal Functional Responsibility

% Of Time

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement S&PAA's annual fundraising plan, setting and attaining monetary goals aligned with short- and long-term strategic objectives. Plan sponsorship strategy for corporate engagement and organization approved special events.

  • Donor Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with existing and prospective donors (individuals, corporations, and foundations) and secure financial support. Plan and execute corporate sponsorship strategies. Ensure donor acknowledgment compliance and manage gift stewardship.

  • Fundraising Materials & Stewardship: Develop and manage necessary fundraising collateral and assets to support the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of current and prospective donors. Oversee the research and application of potential sources of grant and public funding.

  • Financial Oversight & Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and present financial information, including forecasts, budgets, reports, and updates on fundraising activities.

  • Organizational Representation: Serve as an ambassador for S&PAA and effectively communicate its mission and impact. Act as a liaison between the fundraising committee and the board of directors.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, or related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of five years' experience in non-profit organization/health related professional experience, nonprofit development, including individual giving, major gifts and planned giving fundraising.
  • Proven experience cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors resulting in financial gifts.
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and donor database experience

Physical Requirements

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and screen and other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk; or hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
