The Director of Admissions is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the patient intake process to ensure a seamless, efficient, and patient-centered experience from initial contact through admission. This role leads the admissions team in registering patients, verifying insurance, and facilitating appropriate clinical placement. The manager collaborates across departments to eliminate bottleneck processes , improve patient throughput, and ensure accurate data and documentation. This position plays a critical role in aligning admissions operations with clinical capacity and organizational goals.
Responsibilities
- Streamline and continually improve the admissions process to ensure a seamless, patient-centered experience for individuals and their families
- Lead and support the admissions team in registering patients, conducting pre-screenings, verifying insurance, and providing clear benefit information to ensure placement in the appropriate clinical level of care
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and billing teams to remove bottlenecks and enhance admissions efficiency
- Monitor and analyze call center performance to improve conversion rates, responsiveness, and patient satisfaction
- Use call data and referral trends to identify workflow improvements and enhance patient intake processes
- Stay current on insurance regulations and coverage trends to help maximize reimbursement and reduce denials
- Train and mentor admissions team members in best practices for patient communication, empathy, and intake procedures
- Establish and track KPIs related to patient throughput, including:
- Open to Evaluated
- Evaluated to Scheduled
- Scheduled to Admitted
- Call handling, response times, and insurance verification
- Support technology and process improvements that enhance the speed, accuracy, and quality of the admissions experience
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry and documentation in CRM and EHR systems to support compliance and reporting
- Collaborate with leadership to align admissions goals with clinical capacity and overall organizational priorities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, Master's degree preferred
- Proven experience in admissions, healthcare sales, or a related field
- Strong understanding of call center analytics and the ability to leverage data for decision-making
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and manage a team effectively
- Proven experience in business development and call center operations management

The base pay for this position starts at $90k+ annually. Factors, such as but not limited to, geographical location, relevant experience, licensure, education, and skill level may impact the pay for this position.
