Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Director Medical Records to support our teams at Inova Mount Vernon & Inova Alexandria Hospitals.

Director Medical Records Job Responsibilities

• Oversees assigned department or functional area to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success.
• Monitors daily workflow while identifying and implementing processes/procedures to improve efficiency, quality and productivity.
• Ensures that department/functional operations are in full compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards.
• Responds promptly to requests from other departments within the operating unit and maintains cooperative relationship accordingly.
• Ensures physician credentialing process meets accreditation requirements and monitors for compliance.
• Maintains effective and responsive relationships with patients, attending medical staff and other departments.
• Ensures adherence to service excellence standards and the provision of outstanding service to internal and external customers.
• Coordinates and monitors the development of long-range plans and annual budgets for medical records and health information management.
  
  

Director Medical Records Minimum Requirements

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in related field or 4 years additional professional experience in lieu of degree
• Experience: 8 (eight) years of medical records experience; 5 (five) of those years in a management position.
• Certifications: Must have 1 upon start: RHIA or RHIT or CPHI
